How to set up and enable File History
W11) Go to System > Storage > Advanced storage settings > Backup Options (this sucks)
Control Panel - (all panel items) → File History
[ LHP > Select Drive ]
Add network location
Select Folder (for backups to be stored).

Select File History drive
Select folder from last step: \\synology…
[Ok]
[Turn on]
Confirm “File History is on” is displayed
Advanced settings
Save copies of files [Daily]
[Save changes]
Consider: System Image Backup…
WINDOWS 11 removed Add a Folder to File History (just because they are mean)
Try this (from a user on Reddit)
manually add folder directly into the “File History XML file:
%UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\FileHistory\Configuration\Config1.xml
Add something like this:
<UserFolder>E:\backup_this</UserFolder>
no guarantees
W10) Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security.
Select [LHP→Backup] and click “Add a drive.”
More options (if necessary due to “No Usable Drives” message)

Select drive
Add network location
Select the drive or network location you want to use for File History’s backups.

Confirm “File History is on” is displayed

Consider: System Image Backup…
From [LHP→Backup] page, select → [More options]
Backup options - [Add a folder]
Add: C:\aaa_data
Notice all the folders being backed up! wow!
Review contents of each, maybe remove some?
